Hastings Secondary College will have a new leader when the next term begins on Monday, July 12. Hastings Network Director Andrew Kuchling has announced that Meaghan Cook is the successful candidate for the temporary post of Director of Hastings Secondary College. The appointment will be for the remainder of 2021. “As the current principal of Hastings Secondary College, Port Macquarie Campus, Ms. Cook is uniquely positioned to leverage our highly successful learning initiatives to deliver exceptional results every time. pupil, ”Kuchling said. “Ms. Cook has demonstrated great skill and agility in instructional leadership and in bringing a culture of excellence in learning and teaching into every classroom. Mr. Kuchling praised Willem Holvast for his leadership in the strategy and growth of the college over the past five years. “I sincerely thank him for his loyal service and dedication to public education and to Hastings Secondary College,” said Mr. Kuchling. “I wish Mr. Holvast every success in his decision to continue serving the local community through a new role within the Department of Education.” Ms Cook was an alumnus of the Port Macquarie Campus of Hastings Secondary College, returning to campus as Principal in April 2019. She has an excellent understanding of current education policy, curriculum trends and the administration of education. Ms. Cook has over 28 years of experience in public education. She previously held leadership positions at Camden Haven High School, Oxley High School (Tamworth) and began her teaching career at Moree. Ms. Cook has worked both in schools and in the corporate sector, supporting the quality of teaching staff in primary and secondary schools. She served as the Senior Education Officer – Quality Teaching Advisor for the Ministry of Education for many years, spending three years as a PDHPE Consultant supporting schools in the North West Districts of NSW and Clarence Coffs Harbor. Ms Cook was the senior editor of the K-10 Department’s Child Protection Resources deployed to all NSW public schools. Ms. Cook said, “I am honored to have been chosen to lead such an excellent college in the very heart of my own community. for all our young people. “I look forward to working in partnership with our talented students, supportive parents, dedicated staff and committed community leaders from the Hastings Valley schools to build on our college strengths and public education achievements at Hastings. In the meantime, Robert Lyttle will act as principal of the Port Macquarie campus of Hastings Secondary College. Mr. Lyttle has significant high-level leadership experience following his lead relief role at Kempsey High School in 2020 in the announcement of Deputy Principal roles on our two campuses.
