LIFE announces a donation of $10,000 to organize an annual raffle

The Laredo International Fair and Exposition has announced its annual raffle to raise funds for students.

LIFE announced earlier this week that Uni-Trade had donated $10,000 to it in pursuit of its goals of having an annual raffle to help raise money for students. With prizes including trips across the country and overseas, LIFE plans to sell 1,500 tickets at $100 each in an attempt to raise $150,000 for the organization’s mission.

Fernando Ortega is the president of LIFE for the year 2022-23. And he expressed his gratitude for being able to put together the community project.

“This is the second (year) that we’ve been doing this raffle, because we’re basically reaching out to the community and different organizations to donate to our cause to raise funds. So it’s a different type of raffle. , because everything we draw is donated by the community,” he said. “We use these funds to be able to continue to fuel our organization and also to be able to obtain scholarships for those children who participate in our fair on a regular basis. annual.”

Alberto Torres, a member of the Laredo District IV council, is the executive director of LIFE. He said these raffles are important because as a non-profit organization it is able to raise funds to achieve its mission.

“The Laredo International Fair and Exposition promotes the fields of agriculture, horticulture, home economics, and vocational (and) industrial trades to students in Webb County,” Torres said. “Each year, school awards, grants and scholarships are awarded to students to continue to engage in the various educational programs we promote and to pursue their higher education.”

More than $800,000 has been awarded to students through proceeds from the annual county fair, livestock auction and fundraisers, Torres said.

The draw for the annual Uni-Trade raffle will be done via Facebook live from the Laredo Fair account and via its YouTube channel on August 18, 2022 at 6 p.m.

Some of the prizes that will be part of the raffle include a grand prize of $10,000; a skintology package worth over $7,000; trips to places like Hawaii, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Mexico City; a hunting trip; a stay at a North Padre Island condo; and a VIP LIFE Fair package. A total of 25 prizes will be drawn.

Torres said winners will have one year to claim their prizes from the LIFE Downs office or any LIFE board member or employee.

Ortega says the raffle winners always feel good because they not only help the community but also collect unique prizes.

“The LIFE organization will be celebrating our 60th annual fair at our fairgrounds, and it would be a really good celebration if everyone could join us for our fair, as we try to motivate our students to participate,” Ortega said. .
