This year, the Coos County Historical Society is celebrating its 130th anniversary. The Coos Society and History Museum take an entire month to recognize the milestone alongside its annual fundraising and educational programs.

Let’s take a look back at who the company is then and now.

To kick off the big 130, the company is running two fun social media contests themed around Coos County’s historic black and white photos.

Visit the Coos History Museum’s Facebook and Instagram pages to enter and win prizes.

Tuesday history contest

Look for Tuesday’s photo quiz items starting October 12 and correctly comment on your answer to win. A new winner will be chosen each week.

  1. Discover the three photos for each thematic week
  2. Comment on CHM publications with your response for each photo and tag the Coos History Museum with the hashtag: # CoosHistory130
  3. That’s it. You are here to win. Watch the stories to see who got the three correct answers first

Return Thursday Photo Recreation Contest

  1. Your photos must be in black and white
  2. Post on your page and tag Coos History Museum with the hashtag: # CoosHistory130
  3. That’s it. You are here to win. Watch their stories for voting opportunities and winner announcements

View the auction online, register to bid and donate – the auction will start on October 30 at 5 p.m. and end on November 5 at 7 p.m.

Join the company for a week of events, in person and online to mark the occasion. Take part in black-and-white cooking, art, photography and more classes
