September 25: Write outside your door

NEW SALEM – On Saturday, September 25 from 10:30 am to noon, the New Salem Public Library will present “Write Outside Your Door,” a nature walk / writing workshop presented by Corinne H. Smith (writer, speaker and educator ). Participants will meet at the Library, 23 S. Main St., New Salem.

TEMPLETON – The annual Motorpalooza auto show will be held on September 26 at the Common in Templeton.

September 28: The Genealogical Society presents the history of Ireland

Irish History II – Virtual meeting presentation by Thomas Toohey, September 18 at 7 p.m.

The second lecture on Irish history covers the period from the flight of the earls to the onset of the great famine. Some of the major events during this period include the Rebellion of 1841, the Invasion of Cromwell, the Battle of the Boyne and Criminal Laws, the Rebellion of 1798, and Catholic Emancipation. This conference ends with the death of Daniel O’Connell and the onset of the great famine.

Toohey is a modern day Irish storyteller who has traveled to Ireland 19 times and collected hundreds of stories. He has taught at all levels from elementary school to college as a public school teacher, adjunct teacher and educational advisor. Toohey holds a BS from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and an MM from the University of Hartford.

2-3 Oct: RailFair

BOXBORO – The 56th Annual Model Railroad “RailFair” will be held at the Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center (Exit 75 off I-495) on October 2-3, 10 am to 4 pm.

Admission: Adults $ 8, free for children under 12, Scouts in uniform, free.

October 7: “What is witchcraft? “

ATHOL – Join the Athol Public Library at 568 Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. when it hosts Diane DiPietro for a slide show and lecture on the history of witchcraft. DiPietro has practiced witchcraft as a religion for almost 30 years. To free. Masks recommended.

October 9-10: Tractor Show

ROYALSTON – The Winchendon Rod and Gun Club will be holding its second annual Tractor Show on October 9-10 at 169 Winchendon Road in Royalston. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Food, drinks, vendors and tractors of all kinds: lawn tractors, farm tractors, large tractors and small tractors.
