Armed with fake certificates, more than 2 dozen went abroad: Cops | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The ongoing investigation into the interstate fake certificate racket has revealed that of the more than 200 students who paid for it, at least two dozen have already gone to the UK, US, Canada, United Arab Emirates and Australia for higher education or for work.
On Monday, cops nabbed another education consultant involved in the racketeering run by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan University (SRK) in Bhopal, who also revealed the role of a Telugu professor, E Vijay Kumar, from the university. Kumar, who is the head of EEE department, is from Amalapuram in AP. His name has now been added to a list of fugitives which includes several senior private university officials.
So far, Task Force special teams have busted four gangs providing various fake degrees from SRK University in Bhopal and Swami Vivekananda University in Sagar in MP, and Glocal University in Saharanpur in UP.
On Monday, the cops encountered a young man from Mahbubnagar in his twenties who is in the UK with a fake computer engineering degree from SRK. The police obtained a copy of his passport and summoned the family. “Of more than 200 buyers, more than twenty are already abroad,” said an investigator.
The education consultant arrested on Monday, PK Veeranna Swamy of VS Global Educational Services in Chaderghat, had obtained 19 fake SRK university certificates in three years. It charged Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh to customers. Six buyers were arrested. “While arrested SRK assistant professor Ketan Singh was the primary contact for three gangs, Vijay Kumar was Swamy’s primary contact,” an investigator said. Police also named university officials Sunil Kapoor, Gopal Panda, Ravindra Gupta and GG Laddha as defendants.
