Adventist Health welcomes new communications officer for Mendocino County – The Ukiah Daily Journal

Adventist Health welcomes Adam Istas as Communications Officer and Public Information Officer. Istas will lead external communications for Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, Adventist Health Howard Memorial and Adventist Health Mendocino Coast, serving as the organization’s public information manager for the county.

Istas comes to Adventist Health with more than 20 years of life sciences communications experience, most recently working as a strategic consultant and writer for several clinical research-focused companies. He is also a Public Affairs Disaster Responder for the American Red Cross and has worked extensively in the field during California’s 2021 wildfire season.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Adam’s deep experience join the Adventist Health family in Mendocino County,” said Judson Howe, president of Adventist Health for Mendocino County. “Adventist Health’s mission is community-centered, so we’re thrilled to have Adam’s expertise to help us better engage, inform, and understand the community we serve.”

Istas previously led thought leadership initiatives for global biopharmaceutical services provider Quintiles in Durham, NC; served as editor of a magazine specializing in the biopharmaceutical industry in Chicago; and managed a stroke and stroke website at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is also a long-time board member of a non-governmental organization providing football and education opportunities to orphans and refugees in Uganda.

“I look forward to deepening the connection between Adventist Health and Mendocino County,” says Istas. “Part of that is listening to the community we serve, and another part is communicating consistently and transparently. I’m happy to do both.

A Northern California native and graduate of California State University, Fresno, Istas recently relocated to the area after spending 25 years in the Midwest. He looks forward to enjoying the area and the beautiful outdoor spaces that surround us.
